Death followed closely upon the injuries, received by Dr. Steinmeyer last week, the end coming Thursday morning.

Fred A. Steinmeyer was born in Farmington township March 11, 1843, were he grew to manhood. When the civil war broke out he promptly answered the call of this country and enlisted at Quincy, in Co. H. 43rd Ill. Inft. and served to the end of the struggle. At this time he came to Bonaparte and began the practise [sic] of medicine, devoting the remainder of his life to the vocation.

In 1870 he was married to Miss Jennie M. Coolidge, who with a sister and four brother are left to mourn.

Funeral services were held at the late home, Saturday morning, conducted by Rev. George H. Duty, after which the remains, in charge of Joseph Steinmeyer were taken to Davenport for cremation.

Deceased was a man of sterling qualities. Studious by nature, his vocation furnished him the means and opened to him a vast field for research and this he thoroughly improved. His mind was a store house of rich knowledge and his greatest pleasure was in giving to others the fruits of his labor.

In the death of this man, Bonaparte loses a firm friend and his demise is regretted.
