ELMER MYERS DIES

Two weeks ago last Friday, while feeding his team in the early morning hour at the home of P.B. Brown near Lebanon, Elmer Myers of Keosauqua, who was distributor of “Rawleigh’s Remedies” for Van Buren County, was kicked by one of the horses in the bowels. For several days thereafter it was feared by friends that he would die, but following the bringing of him to his home in Keosauqua he seemed to slowly improve but never able to sit up. This condition was continued until Monday of this week about one o’clock when bloody hemorrhages from his bowels commenced, death following at 6:30 that evening, his little girl babe, the first born to Mr. and Mrs. Myers, being 5 weeks old that day. His death came as a severe shock to all the people of our town, for it was generally thought he would recover, and sad indeed is it for his young wife who loved him as she loves her life. Elmer was a good man-everyone who knew him says it. He was 30 years of age and was married to his bereaved wife Dec. 12, 1909, in Keosauqua, Mrs. Myers being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Day of Keosauqua. Mr. Myers’ parents survive and reside in Drakeville. The funeral will be held, Wednesday afternoon of this week at 2 o’clock at the residence, Rev. Wilkins and Eld. Allison in charge of services. The burial will be in the Purdom Cemetery.
