Hiram Thompson was born May 13, 1811, at Livermore, Oxford County, Maine, and died near Bonaparte, Iowa, Feb. 8, 1898, aged 86 years, 8 months and 25 days. In 1836 he moved to Payson, Adams County, Illinois, and was married on June 18, 1840, to Eliza Pottle, they settling near Bonaparte, Iowa, in 1845. To this union were born four children. The third child died in infancy, the remaining ones, two sons and one daughter, survive the parents. The mother died Oct. 21, 1891.
The sense about 13 years of age, it was the desire of the deceased to live a Christian life, and he was a member of the Baptist church for 73 years. He was the youngest of six children and outlived all his brothers and sisters.
