A Good Woman Gone
Elizabeth Radestock, wife of Fred Radestock, an old and highly respected lady passed away at her home four miles northwest of Bonaparte on last Tuesday, April 27, 1911.
The funeral was held from the home Sunday, April 30, at 1:00 o'clock in charge of Rev. J. Taylor and interment made in Bonaparte.
A large concourse of neighbors and friends gathered to pay their last respects to a noble life.
The following obituary was prepared by a friend.
Elizabeth Humphryes was born near Bonaparte on June 13, 1845 and departed this life April 27, 1911, at the age of 65 years, 10 months and 14 days. She was the daughter of William and Hannah Humphryes.
She was married to Frederick Radestock Dec. 25, 1868, near Bonaparte. To them were born three children, Willie of near Bentonsport, Mrs. June Fitzgerald of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and Minnie, who is still at home. She was one of a family of seven children being the sixth child, all of whom have passed over to the other shore except one brother, Henry Humphryes formerly of Bonaparte, but now of Leeds, N.D. She had never joined a church, but had lived a hopeful, virtuous life, trusting always in her maker.
She was always busy and energetic, was a kind neighbor, lending a helping hand in sickness and death. She was a great sufferer in the last weeks of her sickness, but bore her sufferings cheerfully. She was devoted to her home and family.
She leaves to mourn their loss a devoted husband, three children, ten grandchildren, one brother and many other relatives and a host of friends and neighbors.
A loved one is gone
A home circle is broken
She cannot come to us
But we can go to her.Source: unknown newspaper, unknown date.
