Death of an Old Settler.

Mrs. Maria Gesford was born in Steubenville, Ohio, April 17, 1823; died at Farmington, Iowa, March 7, 1904, aged 80 years, 10 months, 19 days.

She came to Iowa and settled in Farmington in 1843, where she has lived with the exception of a few years, ever since. She leaves seven children as follows: Mrs. Mary Ethridge, Boise, Idaho; W. H. Brooker, Hutchinson, Kan.; James A. Brooker, Cripple Creek, Colo.; John Brooker, Farmington, Iowa; Chas. R. Brooker, Great Bend, Kan.; Mrs. James Sherman, Rockford, Colo.; H. D. Brooker, Hutchinson, Kan.

The funeral was held at Christian church at 2 p. m., Wednesday, Mar. 9, deceased having for fifty years held membership in that church.

The children are so scattered and so far away that W. H. Brooker, of Hutchinson, Kan., and John, of Farmington, were the only ones who were present at the funeral.
