George Delbert Bennett, the second oldest son of G. W. and Sarah Bennett, was born Mar. 18, 1882 in Harrisburg township, Van Buren county, Iowa, and passed away Mar. 20, 1957 at the age of 75 years and two days on what is known as the old Bennett farm, northeast of Bonaparte, Iowa.
He lived his entire life in the vicinity of Bonaparte and was married to Mrytle J. Saddler, Jan. 29, 1902, who has preceded him in death, on Aug. 5, 1954. To this union of marriage one son Carl R. was born.
George was always jolly and smiling and was well like by all persons who knew him.
He leaves to mourn his death, one son, Carl R. Bennett, Central Point, Oregon; two brothers, Minor of Scott City, Kans., and Edd Bennett of Milton, Iowa; three grandchildren, Grant D. Bennett, in the air force stationed at Okinawa; Wm. Cecil Bennett, Moline, Ill., and Mrs. John Eshelman, Jersey, Iowa, and four great-grandchildren, besides many nephews and nieces and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 27 at the Bonaparte Baptist church in charge of Rev. Jerald Beltiz. Burial in Bonaparte cemetery.
