James W. Burns - Born July 13, 1843 Van Buren Co. Died Vernon April 10, 1911, 67 years, 8 months, 27 days. Enlisted Co. F 14th IA Inf. on October 14, 1861. Married June 20, 1869 to Miss Mary Gillaspie. Eight daughters and one son, all alive: Mrs. F. O. Pratt of Blackwell, OK was unable to be there. She was one of his daughters. Following are names of children: Mrs. Alice Groves, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Lydia Pratt, Blackwell, OK; Mrs. Rosa Davis; Mrs. Jessie Henry and Mrs. Nettie Etka of Bentonsport; Mrs. Josephine Leggett of Cameron, IL; Mrs. Mary Cochran, Cantril, IA; Randall Bums, Keokuk and Miss Gussie at home.
