David P. Hilles - Died January 2, 1910 at home of his daughter, Mrs. Ira C. McCrary and husband of Ottumwa. Brought to Keosauqua. Mr. Hilles was born December 19, 1828 in Washington Co., PA and came to Van Buren Co. when he was 9 years old. Married in 1851 to Rebecca Thatcher who died 17 years ago and buried Vernon, but will be changed to Purdom Cemetery next to husband. Three children are living: Mrs. Ira C. McCrary of Ottumwa, Mark of OK and Ellsworth E. of Eldon, IA.
