Samuel Hiram Scott - Born April 5, 1819 in Columbiana Co., OH and died in Vernon September 27, 1909. Married Miss Matilda Murry on December 18, 1839 in Columbiana Co., OH. Eleven children; 5 boys and 6 girls, all of whom are living. The three oldest were born in OH, the other 8 in Van Buren Co. Moved with family to IA spring of 1845, stopping at Franklin, Lee County one year, thence to South Bentonsport (now Vernon) in the spring of 1846. There until spring of 1865 then to Vernon Prairie until spring of 1869, thence to farm north of Bentonsport, remaining until 1870. Then to Knoxville, Marion Co., IA. In the spring of 1873 returned to Bentonsport until the fall of 1876, thence to Selma. Spring of 1877 back to Vernon. Leaves wife, 11 children, 39 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
