Capt. Abraham (Able) Wilkin - Born Zenia, OH November 20, 1836 and moved with parents to Logan, IL when 18 years old, soon after to Burlington, IA where parents lived until death. In Civil War, member Co. F. Second IA Infantry and as Capt. of that Co. was severely wounded in battle of Shiloh with Sherman on his "march to the sea." On February 4, 1864 he married Miss Jennie Roberts, Keosauqua. who died January 1885 at S. Keosauqua. Four children born, one only now living, Carey A. On December 8, 1897 married Miss Dealla Kittle of this place. Two children born, twin babes, one died in infancy, the other lived and in care of Mrs. Dr. Rambo of CO. On October 6, 1904 married Miss Jennie McManus who survives. He died September 12, 1906. Three brothers are living: Neil, Al and John of Burlington. Age 69 years, 10 months, 22 days. Was clerk Pension Dept. Washington City, Postmaster Keosauqua, Sheriff Van Buren Co., Mayor of Keosauqua, again Postmaster. F-Purdom Cemetery, Keosauqua
