Augustus Whitlock - Born in Germany February 22, 1829. Came to America with parents 1837 when he was 8 years old. Settled in Farmington Twp. when 21 years old. In that year went to CA, returned to IA 4 years later. Married Miss Sarah M. Beck September 24, 1854 with whom he lived with nearly 52 years. Located on farm in Harrisburg Twp, Van Buren Co. the year of their marriage. On November 24 of that year moved to Bonaparte. Eight children, 5 daughters, 3 sons. Three preceded him: Caroline Catharine, Mary Helen, Ida Alice. Leaves wife, 3 sons: George F. of Wichita, KS; Wm. H. and John B. of Bonaparte; 2 daughters: Mrs. Anna A. Cates of Bonaparte and Mrs. Lottie R. Eddy of Farmington, IA; one sister, Caroline Korfage of Kansas City, MO; and brother, Henry Whitlock of Farmington and 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. Died Bonaparte July 23, 1906, age 77 years, 5 months, 1 day. F-Bonaparte Cemetery, Bonaparte.
