Mrs. Anna M. Rakow

Anna McClintic, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William McClintic, was born at Packwood, Iowa, June 26, 1880, and departed this life Sunday, Feb. 24th, 1924, at her home in Keosauqua, at the age of 43 years, 7 months, and 29 days.

The deceased attended the Fairfield schools and graduated from the Fairfield high school, later attending Parsons college receiving her degree from that institution.

June 29th, 1904, she was united in marriage to A. W. Rakow at Fairfield. To this union three children were born: Helen, William and Catherine, all of whom were with their mother at the time of her death.

Mrs. Rakow's father preceded her in death Feb. 6th, 1896. Her mother and husband were at her bedside when she answered the final summons. Two sisters, Mrs. Della Meinhardt of St. Joseph, Mo., and Mrs. M. G. Black of Fairfield, also survive.

During her girlhood, Mrs. Rakow united with the Presbyterian church, and has ever remained faithful in the performance of her Christian duties.

[She?] was elected to the office of County Superintendent of the schools April 1st, 1923, and assumed her duties in that office at the time of her election. Her family joined her in May, 1923, and the home was established here.

Short services were held at the home in Keosauqua at nine o'clock Tuesday forenoon, after which the funeral party went by auto to Fairfield, where services were held in the Presbyterian church at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Thompson, pastor of the church. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.
