Fred L. King ('59) died Feb. 1, 1999 at his home in North Liberty, Iowa. He was born Aug. 9, 1931 in Queen City, Mo. On Aug. 12, 1956, he married Anita Marie White in Bonaparte, Iowa. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955. He attended high school in Queen City, Mo. and graduated from the Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in 1959 (now Truman State University). He also attended the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He practiced as an ob-gyn until 1970, when he became a radiologist. He was part owner and a staff member of the Laughlin Hospital until it merged with KOH. In later years, he was a staff member of the Macon Samaritan Hospital, Moberly Correctional Facility, and the Iowa Medical Classification Facility in Oakdale, Iowa. He is survived by his mother, Lillian Ann King of Kirksville, Mo.; two sons, Vincent King of Weldon Springs, Mo. and Christopher King of Waukesha, Wis.; one daughter, Phyllis (King) Leatherwood of Brady, Texas; one brother, Max King of Lake Powell, Utah; a stepmother, Marquerite King Rand of Grand Junction, Colo. and eight grandchildren.
