ELDON — Archie Durham, age 84, of Eldon, entered into new life on April 9, 2007, at Van Buren Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

He was born on Dec. 17, 1922 in Richland, Mo. to Elda and Marie Greenstreet Durham. He married Vera Ritz on April 2, 1944; she preceded him in death on Aug. 10, 1993. He married Marie Wood on Oct. 31, 1998 in Cantril.

He lived most of his adult life in Davis County and Eldon area where he was a farmer. He also raised and showed draft horses and for many years had the privilege of leading the “Parade of Horses” for the horse races at the regional Fairgrounds in Eldon. He was a member of the Selma Trail Riders. In 1994 he and Marie rode the Mormon Trail Trek to Utah.

He is survived by his wife, his sons, William Trout Jr. of Eldon and Steve Durham of Floris; his daughters, Judy Liles and Karen Orman, both of Floris, and Donna “Duck” Durham of Ottumwa; a step daughter, Marcia Weller of Fairfield; nine grandchildren; one step grandson; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Besides his first wife he was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Russell and Bob Durham; his sisters, Wilma Davis and Virgie Durham; and a step son, Paul Durham.

Funeral service will be Thursday morning 11 o’clock at the Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon with Revs. David Albert and Pete Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery near Floris.

Open visitation will begin at 10 o’clock Wednesday at the Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon with the family present from 7-8 p.m.
