Washington Woman Was 71 Years Old- Bury At Pittsburg, Iowa
Mrs. Olive Vie McGaffey, 71, died about 11 o'clock last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ross Ramsey, 308 North Seventh. Mrs. McGaffey's death came suddenly, from heart failure, shortly after her return from calling at the home of a neighbor.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal church at Pittsburg, two miles west of Keosauqua. Internment will be in the adjoining cemtery of that church.
She was born at Keosauqua Dec. 8, 1860, a daughter of Aaron Haney and Melissa Claypool Haney. She lived in and near Keosauqua up until almost thirteen years ago when coming to Washington to live at the Ramsey home. Her marriage to Albert McGaffey was on Nov. 15, 1876, at Keosauqua. Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1928.
Three children survive, C.W. McGaffey of Des Moines, Mrs. Ross Ramsey of Washington and David McGaffey of Washington. One sister, Mrs. T.O. Cormack of Centerville, and five brothers are living. The brothers are: W.M. Haney of Cantril, Frank Haney of Washington, Charles Haney of Keosauqua, and George and Oscar of Ft. Madison. There are five grandchildren.
Friends may call at the L.A. Jones funeral home this evening or until nine o'clock tomorrow morning.
