At his residence in Van Buren county, Mr. Neri Hoskin.
He was born in the vicinity of Hartford, Conn., May 16th, 1796. He died Sept. 11th, 1865.
He migrated to Van Buren county, Iowa, in the fall of 1839; consequently, he was one of the oldest inhabitants.
He was a kind neighbor, a faithful husband, and affectionate father, esteemed and beloved in all relations of life.
Quiet, firm and uniform in natural disposition and in christian character, he was the light and attraction of his numerous household; he looked well to his affairs, and ordered them with discretion; his neighbors respected him, and his family loved him.
At the close of a useful and comparatively blameless life, upon the border of three score years and ten, sustained by christian hope, amid his intense bodily sufferings, surrounded and comforted by those who loved and honored him, he fell asleep in Jesus.
Cox.
