JOSEPH L. RACEY

Joseph L. Racey was born at Libertyville, Iowa, Dec. 25, 1855, and died at his country home four and one-half miles north of Arbela, Mo. March 28, 1926, at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 3 days.

In the spring after his birth the family moved to Scotland county, Mo., and settled in the community where he spent his entire life.

On March 13, 1887, he was united in marriage with Emily Louise Arnold. To this union three children were born--Gene F., Glen A., and Robert F. This wife and mother was called to the spirit world on Oct. 1[can't read], 1898, and on July 3, 1900 Mary [V.] Maddox entered the home through the door of matrimony and took up the duties of wife and mother which she has performed faithfully and well through the years.

Bro. Racey was gloriously converted in February, 1888, and joined the Mt. Moriah Methodist Protestant Church. He transferred his membership to the Methodist Episcopal Church at Arbela about 1913. He was an outstanding church man, a faithful Christian gentleman, a devoted husband and father and a [can't read] American patriot of the highest [can't read].

He leaves to mourn his departure the wife and three boys: Gene F. [of] Pulaski, Ia.; Glen A. of Arbela, Mo. and Robert F., temporarily located at Racine, Wisconsin; three sisters Mrs. A. C. Richmond of Arbela, Mo., Mrs. Ed Aten of Memphis, Mo. and Mrs. Lou Shepard of [Ban???], Mo.; three granchildren [sic], Paul, Virginia and Louise, besides many other relatives and friends.
