NOAH E. WARD
------------
Noah E. Ward was born Dec. 21, 1873, and departed this life Jan. 30, 1946, at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 9 days.On Jan. 26, 1901, he was united in marriage with Amy Finette McCracken. To this union were born three daughters and three sons, one of whom died in infancy.
During his long and full life, which terminated after an illness of many months, Noah was always happiest when surrounded by his family, friends and neighbors, and especially happy when spared to celebrate his 45th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife just four days before being called to his reward.
With the exception of six years in Oklahoma, he spent his entire life as a farmer in Van Buren county. He incurred the friendship of all with whom he met and always stood ready and willing to aid friends or neighbors.
As a young man he confessed his faith in Christ, and united with the Harrisburg Baptist church, later transferred to the Bonaparte Baptist church, where he maintained a membership until death.
He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife, sons, James R., and Alvin G.; daughters, Mrs. Mary Willits, Mrs. Tina Ewing, and Mrs. Hazel McIntosh. Also 13 grandchildren, three half brothers, John Matlock of Moline, Ill., Charles Matlock of Keokuk, and Steve Matlock of Bonaparte, and four half sisters, Mrs. Anna Burnett and Mrs. Tina Hornbaker, of Burlington, and Mrs. Dorothy Richards of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Nettie Holmes of Moline, Ill.
Funeral services were conducted Feb. 1, at 2:00 at Story Chapel, the pastor, the Rev. John S. F.[can't read]. Interment in the Thompson [can't read-probably cemetery].
