OBITUARY
--------
NATHAN WILSONNathan, son of Philemon and Sarah Wilson, was born near Aurora, Ind., May 10, 1820, and departed this life, Aug. 15, 1908, at the home of his nephew C. P. Wilson near Lebanon, being 88 years, 3 months and 5 days old. He moved with his parents to Van Buren county, Iowa, in 1851, in which place he has ever since resided. At the age of six weeks a gathering in his head entirely destroyed his hearing. He received his education at a school for deaf and dumb at Indianapolis, Indiana, also from private instruction in the home. He was a great reader and a good Bible student. He was a good shoemaker, following that trade for a number of years and getting more work than he could do. He tanned much of the leather he used. He was also a good carpenter and cabinet maker. He was the second child of a family of 14, his father, mother and six brothers and sisters preceding him to the great beyond. The living are Josiah, Daniel, Omer and Eliza Glanville of this county; Elvira Mowre, of Billings, Montana, Catherine Johnston, of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Elizabeth Ann Bowles of Wichita, Kan. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. F. Gilbert at the church in Lebanon, Sunday at 2:30 p.m., August 16, 1908, a large number of relatives and friends being present.
