MRS. ANN WATKINS
Ann Evans was born in Llanvigan Parish, Breconshire, Wales, Dec. 10, 1839; was one of a family of eight children, all of whom, except one brother, have preceded her in death. She was converted when sixteen years of age and united with the congregational church and latter [sic], because of there being no church of her choice near, united with the Methodist church at Story Chapel.
In May 1860 she was joined in marriage with John Watkins, to this union were born nine children all of whom are living except William who died Aug. 11, 1881. Those who with her husband are left to mourn are Mrs. Margaret Hales, John E. Watkins, Mrs. Mary A. Chadwick, Jesse Watkins, Mrs. Gwen Armstrong, Mrs. Keziah Courtney and Mrs. Rosabel Sheets. There are twenty-one grandchildren. In May 1881 she with husband and family emigrated to America and settled in Van Buren County Iowa, which has been her her [sic] home ever since. On Sept. 10 last she was striken [sic] with paralysis and was a great sufferer until released by death, May 20, 1907.
Surrounded by loving husband and children she passed peacefully away aged 67 years, 5 months and 10 days.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Geo. Blagg May 22, 1907, at Center Chapel and the [body?] was laid to rest in the cemetery near by.
In the neighborhood were [sic] she lived Mrs. Watkins was universally esteemed and the bereaved family have the sympathy of all.
