OBITUARY

Martha Eleanor Bales

Martha Eleanor Bales passed away July 7, 1949 in the Covina hospital, Covina, California following a heart attack and an illness of 12 days at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 4 days.

Martha Eleanor Sherod was born June 3, 1874 near Mt. Zion, Iowa to William N. and Elizabeth Barker Sherod, both deceased.

Her children left to mourn her passing are Mont A. Forbes, Dorothy E. Grandel and Bernardine G. Clark, all of 236 W. Center St., Covina, and Bordman Forbes, 1012 Hollydale Ave., Azusa, Calif.

She was a member of La Paloma Chapter No. 202, Order of the Eastern Star, Covina, Calif., The Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Covina and member of the Presbyterian church, Covina, Calif.

Mrs. Bales lived in Mt. Zion, Iowa, Birminham, Iowa; Saguache, Colo., Huntington Beach, Calif., and Covina, Calif. She was the wife of Robert W. Forbes, who until his death in 1917 resided on a ranch near Saguache.
