OBITTARY [sic] SKETCH OF COUNTY OLD SETTLERS

The mortuary list is a long one. It pictures horror, tragedy, pity, sweet relief from long and patient suffering, and quiet passing because of tired and worn out bodies. All of which reminds us, "Be ye therefore ready." To all of these may it be:
Light after darkness, gain after loss;
Strength after weakness, crown after cross;
Sweet after bitter, song after sigh;
Home after wandering, praise after cry.

Sheaves after sowing, sun after rain;
Sight after mystery, peace after pain.
Joy after mystery, calm after blast.
Rest after weariness, sweet rest at last.
