ANSON

The earliest living woman settler of Van Buren county, until yesterday, was Miss Eliza Anson, aged about 83 years, who kept house for her brother Thomas Anson on his farm about three miles down the right bank of the Des Moines River from Keosauqua, and yesterday morning, June 3, 1903, after a lingering sickness, she passed to the world beyond. She came here with her brothers in 1835 or 1836, we are not certain which, settling with them on the farm where she died. She was of a retiring disposition, but a good woman and kind neighbor. The funeral will be at the Center Chapel today at 2 o’clock, in charge of Rev. Ingham of Keosauqua.
