Mrs. Ella Davis.

Elnora Davis was the daughter of Extine and Julia Davis and was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, December 28, 1858, and her life was almost entirely spent in this county.

She united with the M.E. church at Center Chapel about twenty years ago and was taken back to her old home and laid to rest among the friends of her childhood.

She was the mother of three boys and three girls, all of whom were present at the funeral except the oldest girl, Mrs. Stella Heminger, of Kenston, Canada, and Charles who is somewhere in the west.

She died Wednesday, March 20, 1907, at her home in Bonaparte, being 48 years, 2 months, and 22 days old. Funeral services were held at Center Chapel March 22, Rev. W.H. Jones officiating.

She was married September, 1875?, to Louis Davis, who is at the home of his son, Harvey, in Keosauqua suffering with cancer of the stomach.

Mrs. Davis was taken suddenly ill with pneumonia on the day of the Bonaparte Bee fire at Bonaparte. She was getting out a washing when the fire alarm sounded and rushed to the scene of the fire without proper wraps. Two other Bonaparte ladies were taken ill with pneumonia in a similar way.

She was one of eleven children all of whom are more than forty years old, and she was the first to depart this life. This is certainly a remarkable family, her death really being caused by accident and not by disaster.
