DIED. At his residence in Village township, April 27th, 1881, James McGill, who was born in Bracken County, Kentucky, October 19th, 1790. He was married to Hannah Stephen, August 31st, 1819. Eight children were born to them of whom six with the aged widow remain to mourn their loss. He came to Iowa in 1852, to Van Buren County in 1863. He served in the War of 1812, and in the Gray Beard regiment in 1864. he joined the Baptist church in 1843, of which he was a member at his death. His end was peaceful. He was buried April 28 from Mt. Moriah Church.
