Passing of a Real Daughter

Genevieve F. Willis
Genevieve F. Willis, 87, of St. Vincents Home, formerly of 1608 W. Granview, Quincy, died Wednesday at 10:35 a.m. in Blessing Hospital. She was born January 23, 1919 in Farmington, Iowa, the daughter of James C. and Bertha Walther Ruark.
On May 14, 1936, she married Dorsey E. Willis in LaGrange, MO. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1982.She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She worked at Motorola for 20 years. She belonged to the Eagles Auxilliary and Women of the Moose. She was also a member of Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. She gave over 12 gallons of blood to the Red Cross.
Her father was a Pvt. Co. D. in the 30th Regiment of the Iowa infantry and was a Civil War Veteran. He volunteered Aug. 8, 1862 in Farmington, IA.
Survivors include a a son, Roger E. Willis and his wife Sherry of Quincy; a daughter-in-law, Barb Willis of Quincy; 7 grandchildren, Brian Willis of Jersey City, NJ; Angela Rookstool and her husband Dave of Kansas City, MO; Major Douglas Willis and his wife Shellie of Kansas City, MO; Dee Friye and her husband Todd of Quincy; Cindy and Pam Willis of Lewistown, MO; and Derrick Willis and his wife Nicki of Fowler, IL; 13 great-grandchildren and a half step-sister -in-law, Margie McCleskey.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son Dorsey Willis, Jr.; 2 brothers, Calvin and Lester Ruark; and 4 sisters, Mary Thompson, Agnes Schwab, Helen Wheelock and Geneva Alexander. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hansen Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Ivan Greuter officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials made to Central Baptist Church in Genevieve's name would be greatly appreciated.
