Grace Shipley, eldest daughter of W.H. and Estelle Nichols, was born Sept. 27th, 1889, at Cantril, Iowa, and passed away at her home near Lebanon, Iowa, on June 5th, 1946, at the age of 56 years, 8 months, and 9 days.
On August 17th, 1910, in Keosauqua, Iowa, she became the wife of S.C. Shipley and to this union were born six children.
They are Harold and Howard of near Lebanon; Mrs. Cleo McArthur of Birmingham; Mrs. Bessie Kingsbury of near Mt. Sterling; Mrs. Martha Hill and Edward at home with their father. She leaves besides her husband and children, eight grandchildren. Wayne, Myrna, and Sharon Shipley; Ruth, Donna, and Maxine Shipley; Carolyn McArthur and Donald Kingsbury; also three sisters, Mrs. Orin Cox of Batavia, Mrs. Freda Else of Waterloo, and Mrs. Carl Martin of Glasgow; and six brothers. Hershel of Revere, Mo, Almond of Burbank, Calif., Eddie of Des Moines, Henry of Keota, Clarence and Willard of Glasgow.
Her parents and one sister preceded her in death. Besides her family she leaves a host of neighbors and friends, having lived her entire life in Van Buren county and 26 years at the present place.
