George Martin Kerr, oldest child of John and Nancy Callen Kerr, was born in Bonaparte Jan. 16, 1874 and passed away in his sleep at about 3 a.m., Nov. 13, 1953, at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 28 days. He had been in failing health for several months. His entire life was spent in Bonaparte with the exception of a few years on a farm east of town. On June 22, 1895 he was united in marriage to Miss Sadie Iceline Lawrence, who survives him. Ten children were born to this union, six girls and four boys, nine of whom survive. They are Mrs. Leslie Hainline, Bonaparte; Mrs. Ray Morton, Hamilton, Ind.; Miss Helen, at home; Mrs. Willard Cox, Keosauqua; Mrs. Russell Lockwood, Wayne, Mich; Ray J. Kerr, Clawson, Mich.; William R.. Kerr, Bonaparte; Arlie G. Kerr,, Macon, Mo.; Cecil Kerr, Mountain View, Alaska. A daughter, Mildred, died at the age of five years. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends. He was the last member of his family, his only remaining brother, William B. Kerr passed away Sept. 1, of this year at Takoma, Wash. His parents, two brothers, Arlie and Wayne and two sisters, Mrs. Daisy Rigsby and Mrs. Roxie Long died several years ago. Funeral services in charge of Rev. Jerry Beltz were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bonaparte Baptist church. Burial in Bonaparte cemetery
