Death of W.A. Lippincott

About 7 o’clock Tuesday morning, March 4, 1919, W.A. Lippincott, whose age was 79 the 17th of last November, died at the Russell House in Keosauqua, which had been his abiding place for a long series of years. He was born in Pennsylvania but most of his life was passed in Iowa as a resident of Van Buren county. In the Sixties he lived at Vernon, where he operated the ferry of the Des Moines river between that town and Bentonsport. For a long time he was landlord of the Russell House and here his good wife died about four years ago. One daughter, Mrs. Irvin of Des Moines, who was with her father during his sickness survives. Soon after his wife’s death his health began to fail and was continuous until the end came as above named. Mr. Lippincot was held in high esteem by those who knew him best, and he will be missed by our people. The funeral will be from the Congregational church in Keosauqua at 2 p.m. Thursday of this week, Rev. Perkins in charge of the service. Burial will be at the side of his wife in the Purdom cemetery.
