OBITUARY

Annie Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, was born on the old DeFord farm near Cantril, Ia., on Dec. 16, 1855, and passed away at her home in Cantril on May 9, 1925, aged 69 years, 4 months and 24 days.

She was united in marriage to George L. Norris on Oct. 28, 1877. To this union one son was born, Clyde G. Norris. Mrs. Norris spent her life in and around Cantril, and endeared herself to all who knew her.

She was a faithful and earnest member of the Cantril M. E. church, becoming a member during the pastorate of Rev. W. E. Petterson, a year previous to dedication of the present church. Sister Norris was immersed in the Fox creek, along with several others.

Mrs. Norris was a faithful wife, a loving and tender mother, and constant friend, and a real neighbor in every sense of the word. She was earnest and faithful in her religious life and experience, and has passed to her well earned reward.

Mrs. Norris had not been well for some time, and had been under medical care. Last Saturday it seemed as if she was making a recovery, and seemed to be in excellent spirit, when suddenly and unexpectedly the end came, and she passed peacefully away to her eternal rest, pasing into the presence of Him whom she knew as Savior.

She leaves to mourn their loss her husband Geo. L., and her only son, Clyde G. Norris. Also five brothers and three sisters, Alexandra H. Smith, of Luray, Mo., Mary E. Fritz, of N. Y. City, Elizabeth Price of Milton, Ia., Charles Smith, Emma Warner,Thomas Smith, Frank Smith and Geo. Smith, all of Cantril, Ia., also two grandchildren, Geo. L. and Grace Norris. There are a number of relatives and a host of friends and neighbors who will feel her loss, and will mourn because a noble and good woman has left us.

Her parents, three brothers and one sister have preceded her in death.

The deceased was a member of the local chapter of the Rebekah Lodge.
