Golden Wedding.
Fifty years ago today occurred the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Johnson, two of Bonaparte's most estimable residents. In commemoration of their union so long ago, about fifty of their relatives and friends are today enjoying a sumptuous golden wedding dinner with them at their comfortable home.
'Uncle Billy,' as Mr. Johnson is familiarly called, was one of the pioneers of this section of country, has been identified with its commercial interests, held public office and is therefore well and favorably known throughout this part of the state.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson have raised a family of refined, intelligent and prosperous children, three of whom, Mrs. Geo. T. Ward, of Chicago, Mrs. Geo. F. Smith, of Keosauqua, and J. A. Johnson, of our city, are in attendance at the glad ceremony of this anniversary. The other three, Mrs. Wm. Meek, of Denver Colorado, Thos. H. Johnson, of Ft. Madison, and Geo. B. Johnson, of Ft. Worth, Texas, are not permitted to be present by reason of sickness and the long distance intervening.
The record wishes this where the couple, who have proceeded together upon life's pathway for half a century, many more years marked with pleasant happenings.
[Note: Year not given but position in scrapbook suggests 1900]
