Marriage Announcement

LIGHTFOOT, FOREMAN, CUMMINGS, MYERS, GEESEKA

LIGHTFOOT -- FOREMAN ---------- At the residence of the bride's parents, 509 Front street, Fort Madison, Iowa, at 8:30 p.m., Monday, January 27, 1913, Mr. Harry Lightfoot and Miss Vallie Esther Foreman, Rev. Dr. T. J. Meyers of Mt. Pleasant officiating.

The event was attended with quiet and simplicity, only the immediate relatives and near friends being in attendance. The parlor and living room were decorated simply in pink and white carnations being used to carry the color scheme in the dining room white roses alone were used to set off the bride's table.

Dr. Meyer, the officiating minister, officaited at the marriage of the bride's sister to his own son in the same room just two months previous. The ring ceremony was used. There were no attendants. The was attired in white broadcloth with Spanish lace trimmings; she carried a shower bouquet of bridesroses. The groom wore conventional black. Following the ceremony a three course wedding luncheon was served in the dining room. The couple left on a morning train for a week's stay at Chicago, to precede visits of a week each at Des Moines and Mt. Pleasant, after which they will return here. They will make their home on the groom's farm, seven miles north of Farmington in Harrison township, this county, where their home is being remodeled and furnished for occupancy in the near future.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Reed Foreman of this city. She is a graduate of the Fort Madison High school with class of '06, a talented musician, a young lady of personalities which endear her to her enviable circle of friends. The groom is the son of Mrs. Tilda and the late sheriff Frank Lightfoot. During his father's incumbency of office he was a resident of this city, since when he and his mother have managed the homestead place and his own farm near Farmington. Both he and his bride occupy the highest position of respect and enter their married life with a host of congratulations and best wishes.

Attending from out of the city were Mrs. Tilda Lightfoot, and Mr. and Mrs. Levi Cummings of Farmington; Mr. and Mrs. John Foster Myers of Mt. Pleasant; Miss Hazel Foreman of Des Moines; Mrs. O. W. Geeseka of Mt. Pleasant.
