1991 NO 7Farmington man dies of gunshot wound
According to authorities the initial investigation has shown that a 20 year-old Farmington man died Sunday as the result of a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
Authorities said Frank Dale Hackard, Jr. was taken to Van Buren County Medical Examiner Dr. J.T. Worrell.
Hackard, a 1989 graduate of Harmony High School, was found in Vernon Township, Section 21, which is two miles east of the junction of Iowa Highways 2 and 2 on Highway 2 after the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department was notified that and ambulance had been requested. Bonaparte First Responders and EMTs also were called.
Information released Tuesday by the Sheriff's Department said that Hackard died of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. No other details have been released by the department.
The investigation into Hackard's death is continuing by the Sheriff's Department and the State Division of Criminal Investigation.
