Cantril man killed in accident

CANTRIL - Burton J. Overstreet, 38, of rural Cantril died Tuesday Aug. 29, 1989, when the tractor he was driving overturned and pinned him underneath.

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office reported that Overstreet had been using his tractor to chase a bull which had gotten out of the pasture.

Overstreet apparently turned the tractor too quickly at a high rate of speed, causing the tractor to overturn, the sheriff's office reported. The accident occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m.

Overstreet was pronounced dead by Dr. J.T. Worrell, Van Buren County medical examiner. Funeral arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.
