At the pleasant home of the bride’s parents, in Bentonsport, George L. Jack, of Des Moines, and Mattie Wolfe, nee Carter, of Bentonsport, at 8:30 p.m., Aug. 24, 1893, Rev. R. Breeden, officiating Minister.

A large number of friends and neighbors were guests. Just at the proper time the whole company were invited to repair to the dining room where were awaiting the tables loaded with a delicious repast. While the guests were feasting they were treated to a modern serenade by the Bentonsport band. The music was enjoyed by all. After the band boys feasted ‘till they wanted no more, they formed on the green lawn and the groom blew one of the horns while they closed the serenade. That’s right, boys, tin pans are too cheap for these times. Alex. Carter served the following varieties of watermelons: A Methodist, Republican and Democrat. The boys pronounced them all the very best. Many valuable presents go with the young couple to decorate and beautify their new home in Des Moines. R.B.
