Coolidge-Kirkendall.
Announcement has been received of the marriage of Mr. Ivan D. Coolidge and Miss Kate Kirkendall of Des Moines, on Monday, October ninth, at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. C. I. (or O. I.?) Kirkendall, at Afton, Iowa. They will be at home after November 15 at 3120 Iola street, Des Moines, in a lovely new residence which Mr. Coolidge is just completing.
Miss Kirkendall visited here a few months ago. Those who met her at that time know that Mr. Coolidge is to be congratulated. She is an exceptionally talented pianist.
Everybody here knows Ivan. He is a hustler, and has been in the newspaper business ever since he was large enough to manage a pencil or set of type right end up. He had a little paper here and a good list of subscribers when he was about ten years old. Since that time he has been employed at the Bonaparte Record, the Daily Gate City of Keokuk, and the Register and Leader of Des Moines where he is now manager of the classified advertising department and is making good. When he first went to Des Moines he had hard sledding, barely getting enough for his board and lodging, but his salary now would look good to most any young fellow, and he has a fine new residence in one of the best districts, and a happy handsome helpmate. Who says there is no chance for a boy to succeed in the “day and age.”
