WALKER - GARDNER

A very pretty wedding took place at three o'clock Sunday afternoon, May 20, in the auditorium of the Presbyterian church of Bonaparte, the contracting parties being Mr. Merlin E. Walker of Ottumwa and Miss Grace Gardner of Bonaparte.

Rev. D.D. Flanagan used the double ring ceremony, with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Walker, sister of the bride and brother of the groom, acting as best man and best matron. The bridal party took their places to the rhythm of the Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin, played by Mrs. Vale Winslow. An appropriate solo, "At Dawning" sung by Miss Gwendowlyn Lydolph preceded the ceremony, and "I Love You Truly," by A.G. Roberts, completed the impressive service which was witnessed by about thirty relatives and friends.

Mr. Walker is now and has been for several yours, a government inspector with the Morrell Packing Co. of Ottumwa. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Walker of near Stockport, graduated from Stockport high school in 1925, and much of his life has been spent in Van Buren county.

The bride is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Gardner of Bonaparte. She is a graduate of Bonaparte high school and for about a year has been employed in Ottumwa. She is a young woman of unusual ability, and their many friends hope for Mr. and Mrs. Walker the very best in life. They will go at once to housekeeping in Ottumwa.

Members of the World Service group of the East End Presbyterian church at Ottumwa gave Miss Gardner a miscellaneous shower on Friday evening at the home of her sister, Mrs. Melvin Walker at 221 North Fellows street, Ottumwa.
