133RD REGIMENT MOVES TO NEW ORLEANS, LA.
**Handwritten: Dec. 18, 1941

Van Buren county relatives of members of the 133rd regimental band have been notified that the 133rd regiment and band which was stationed at Camp Claiborne has been moved to a camp on Lake Pontchartrain near New Orleans. The move was made on very short notice.

A letter from Jack Percival to his mother, Mrs. Mildred Percival of Bonaparte, says the member of the band received rifles as Christmas gifts from Uncle Sam.

SHORT NOTICE

Following is part of a recent letter from Mrs. Roger Morrison to the Fairfield Ledger. Mr. Morrison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Morrison of Stockport is a member of the 133rd band. Mrs. Morrison and son have been living at Glenmora, about nine miles from Camp Claiborne.
---------------
Monday, evening, Dec. 8.

Last evening the 133rd band presented a well prepared and well received program at the Service club. We returned home here, listened to the newscasts and retired. at 11:30 came word to report to camp at once. That was all we knew then. At 3:00 a.m. Roger sent his car into town, loaded with the boys personal belongings, etc., by Pvt. Gunn of Headquarters Co. and a tenant here in our house. I returned to camp with him and arrived in time to see the band lined up b ready to en truck. Roger fell out long enough to tell me good-bye and that they thought they were going to New Orleans. He then had to rush to catch up with the rest.

The camp presents a deserted appearance. Only 13 men of the Headquarters Co. remained and they were expecting orders to move at any time. Most of the canvas of the tents had been removed and all supplies have been moved with the troops. One has only to see the Camp to feel that the men won't be back soon. Naturally we wives left here with no word are most anious to learn the plans of the Army in regards our better halves. The majority plan to return to Iowa, I believe.

And that is the situation with us here in Louisiana at the present. How long it will remain that way we have no way of knowing. I will try to write as soon as we learn of anything further. An I probably will see you before so much longer.

P.S.
Tuesday A.M. Dec. 9

Roger called from New Orleans this morning, it is the thought of most that the 133rd will be there for some time. They are on guard duty, the band guarding the quarters where they are stationed, which is the Recreation Center at Pontchartrain Beach. I may go down there, at least for some time.
