Mr. and Mrs. Le Roy Schmidt and Family

Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy O. Schmidt and two children, Jeannette and LeRoy, Jr., live on a farm one mile southwest of Stockport. Mr. Schmidt who is 39 years old has been a farmer for nineteen years and the family has lived at their present location for six years.

The children have been active in 4-H work and Mrs. Schmidt has served as assistant 4-H leader for the past three years. The family have taken their share of ribbons at fairs winning grand champion Angus bull, two blue ribbon 4-H steers, grand champion Angus heifer, blue ribbon market pig and with canned goods at county and state fair.

Mr. Schmidt raises mostly corn and beans on his 215 acres and he says the thing he likes best in his occupation is the handling of his Black Angus herd. His hobbies include boating, golf and the making of walnut furniture. He specializes in raising Aberdeen Angus cattle. He is a member of the Farm Bureau and Masonic lodge.

Jeanette says her main hobby is basketball and LeRoy, Jr. says his is baseball and fishing.

Mr. Schmidt is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schmidt of Bonaparte, and Mrs. Schmidt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Weller. They both were graduated from Bonaparte high school and it was while in high school that their courtship began. They were together for three years and married in 1932 and started housekeeping on a farm north of Bonaparte where they lived until moving to the present location
