On Thursday evening Dec. 22. at the church in Big Mound, occurred the marriage of W. C. Hemmings and Ida M. Crawford, Rev. Barnett, the Methodist minister of Farmington officiating.

After a short sermon the organist played a wedding March, during which the bridal pair accompanied by four attendants were ushered in by Mr. Chase Ware. On arriving at the alter after the usual ceremony, the happy couple were pronounced man and wife. The party with a few invited guests returned to the home of the bride's parents, where a sumptuous repast was served and an enjoyable evening was spent.

The bride is a daughter of D. W. Crawford, and is known for her goodness, industry and high social standing.

The groom, youngest son of Wm. Hemmings is an energetic young farmer, highly respected by all who know him.

The young couple have the best wishes of their many friends.

[note: later census info as well as month, date and day of the week of marriage indicate year of marriage as 1887.]
