BENEFIT LIBRARY TEA
**Handwritten: 1941

A very large crowd attended the Library Benefit Tea at the Stockport gymnasium Thursday, Oct. 16, sponsored by the L.L.G. club and the educational department of the Triple A.

Three muscial numbers were given by Mrs. Rachel Morris, Mrs. Marjorie Ellingsworth and Mrs. Helen Spencer. Due to road conditions the county chorus was unable to attend.

A short talk on the library was given by Miss Margaret Beswick. Mrs. Ellsworth Richardson, of the Educational Department, Triple A., Des Moines was the guest speaker, the topic used, "The American Way of Living." Mrs. Richardson is well known in Van Buren county and is considered a very interesting speaker. She likened our Democracy to a great old house, not to be torn down and rebuilt, but to be strengthened constantly.

Mrs. C.E. Bunker and Mrs. George Leffler presided at the Tea table which was attractively decorated with Autumn leaves.

The guests were invited to inspect the library and the opinion of all was the L.L.G. club might well be proud of their civi undertaking.
