One of the most enjoyable social events of the season transpired at the residence of Mr. T. H. Hopkins of this place on Tuesday evening. The occasion was the marriage of their daughter, Miss Josie, to Mr. H. A. Spruance, one of the rising young business men of Georgetown, Colorado. The invited guests consisting of the immediate relatives of the bride and groom, with a few intimate friends numbered about 50 persons and were as follows: Sam Clark, Georgetown, Colorado; Mr. H. M. Spruance, Mr. William A. Spruance and wife, Mr. John E. Stafford and wife, Mr. Matt Woodruff and wife, Miss Hattie Hiller, Miss Maggie Bell, Capt. John N. Hiller, and Dr. E. H. Davis of Kahoka, Mo. From Luray Mo. were Mr. D. E. Clinton and wife. from Athena, Mo., we noticed Dr. D. M. Scott and wife. Mr. Geo. Hiller and wife, Mr. Royal Hiller and wife.

From Bonaparte and vicinity were Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Holesworth, Mr. and Mrs. James Sage, Mr. and Mrs. Flint Meek, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. F. Smith, Miss Nannie Johnson, Miss Mary Flint, Hugh Meek Esq., Miss Pheba Meek, Miss Otelia Lippencott, Miss Hattie Detwiler, Miss Humphryes, Miss Lida Coffindiver, Miss Tillie Stackbarger, Miss Lizzie Sivel, John Lineweaver and wife, and Mr. and Mrs. Giles Petitt, Mr. and Mrs. George Bradford, Mr. Anthony Bradford and family, Mr. Orin Jones and others.

The ceremony was performed at 5 o'clock p.m., by Rev. H. K. Hennigh, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Bentonsport and this place after which the invited guests partook of a repast which for variety and palatableness would be hard to excel.

The evening was spent until 9 o'clock in social converse and everybody there was joyous. The happy couple were accompanied to the depot by their many friends, where they took the westward bound train for for Georgetown, Colorado, their future home.

The gifts they received were valuable, and attested the esteem in which they were held by their many friends. Among the list we noticed a silver butter dish and knife, sugar spoon, set of silver tea spoons, set of silver table spoons, set of ivory handled knives and silver forks all the gifts of..............(the list of wedding gifts and from whom goes on for several sentences.)

"Alex" and "Jo" have the best wishes of all who know them and we sincerely hope that their whole life may be passed as pleasantly ad the evening when their friends were called to witness their nuptials.
