CANTRIL RESIDENT RECALLS 1903 FLOOD

Anna E. Klaflin, known affectionately to some of the older inhabitants of Keosauqua as "Aunt Annie," of Cantril, Iowa, recalls that she was working at the hotel at the time of the flood and high water in Keosauqua. She remembers of being taken from the hotel in a raft. At the time she was so excited that the only thing she snatched up to take with her were some bread dough she had been mixing and two chickens. This was in 1903.
