CARRIED MAIL 1887

On July 1,1887, N.A. Brown, Stockport, and his brothers, started carrying the mail from Wilsonville through McVeigh, Utica, and Pierceville to Bentonsport. For eight years, every day except Sunday, Mr. Brown carried the mail over this Star route. If the carrier did not get through with his mail, no matter what the conditions of the weather or roads, his wages for that day would be docked. If he made no attempt to get through three day's wages would be taken away from him.
