In Milton he met Ida M. Cooley, and on May 14, 1882, they were married. They lived in Milton where Mr. Gaston practiced the carpenter trade.
In 1895 Mr. Gaston was elected constable of Jackson township, an office which he held for two years. In 1922 he was elected Justice of the Peace, and re-elected in 1924 and 1926. In 1934 Mr. Gaston was again elected to this office.
Mr. and Mrs. Gaston have two daughters, Gladys Guthrie of Ft. Madison, and Ella Gaston of Milton, and one grandchild.
Mr. Gaston's grandfather, Samuel of Bentonsport, built the first ferry boat that ever crossed the Des Moines River. He is buried at the Vernon Cemetery.
