"George Shannon McIntosh Born 16 Oct 1857 near Keosauqua, Van Buren, Ia. He came to California from Iowa about 1878, but first he was in Colo. at Leadville, Colo. where he and his brother Jim worked in A mine and played piccolo & violin for dances. After coming to Calif., he visited Aunt Louise HARDIN in Cholame Valley, San Luis Co, Calif. He drove A stage from Peach Tree to Parkfield for some time. Married Helen Bell in May 1888, & lived in Arroyo Grande, Obispo Co, Calif. where their first son Forest & daug. Lottie were born & then near Gilroy, after that they lived near San Miguel Vineyard Canyon where son George & daughter Ilene were born; they moved back to near San Miguel in Love's Canyon, where Helen Bell McIntosh died about May 1900/1901. Moved to ArcherPlace & worked for W.M. Pence on A ranch, later moved to near Parkfield, Monterey, Calif. & took up homestead. Went East to Iowa on A trip, while there married Bertha Fitzgerald, A Cousin. They had 5 children all born on the homestead near Parkfield, Monterey, Calif. They moved to Gilroy, then to Prunedale near Salinas, Calif. The next move was to Castroville, and back to Salinas, Calif."

George Shannon McIntosh is the son of Thomas Brewster McIntosh and Rebecca Ellen Fitzgerald.

George Shannon McIntosh died in 1938 Salinas, Monterey Co, California and is buried in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery there. His first wife Helen Bell McIntosh died 21 May 1901 at 42 years old near San Miguel, San Luis Obispo Co, California. She was a native of Mt. Sterling, Van Buren Co, Iowa. George and Helen had four children all born in California: Forest Clare (1889-1913), Lottie Bell (1890-1984), George Raymond (1897-1983) and Ilene Edith (1899-1993). Forest never married but the other three children were married two or more times each. I am unsure where Forest died but the other three resided and died in California.

George Shannon McIntosh married second on 12 Oct 1905 in Van Buren Co, Iowa to his first cousin, Bertha J. Fitzgerald, daughter of Ambrose Hubert Fitzgerald and second wife Alicia? Belle Meredith. Also, Bertha's half-sister was married to George Shannon McIntosh's brother John Wesley McIntosh, who had remained in Van Buren County, Iowa. Four of George & John's siblings also had relocated to California

Bertha J. Fitzgerald was born 11 Jun 1885 Des Moines, Polk Co, Iowa and died in 1959 in Sacramento, Sacramento County, California. She and George had five children, all born near Parkfield, Monterey Co, California: Helen Margaret (1906-1983), Emil Lorenzo (1908-1968), Living Daughter, Living Son, Opal Louise (1914-1994).
