Samuel Johnston & Prudence Hill, husband and wife, migrated to United States from Belfast, Ireland in 1825. They operated a tavern (Pittsburgh House on the Diamond or Horseshoe on the Diamond) in Pittsburgh from 1825 – 1836. Samuel died in Pittsburgh, PA., in 1836. The family moved to Iowa in 1854.
