Van Buren County's Civil War Veterans
MARTIN H. CORNS
Martin H. Corns, son of Ira and Sarah Corns, was born October 11, 1844, at Taylorville, Muskingen county, Ohio. In 1856 he moved to Bentonsport, Iowa. He enteted Company E. 15th Iowa Infantry Janury 1864, and served to the close of the war.
On September 19, 1877, he was married to Mary Etta Scott, the daughter of Samuel and Matilda Scott. Miss Scott was born December 9, 1956, at Vernon, Iowa
To them were born six children, three of whom are now living and make their homes in Bentonsport. They are William Walter Corns, Calvin Henry Corns, and Charles Raymond Corns. Clara Francis Leffler, Hattie Addie Harm, and Chancey Scott Corns, are dead.
Mr. Corns has lived in Bentonsport for 79 years.
