Robert Kerr, farmer, Sec. 9, was born in Alleghany Co., Penn., in 1822; removed to this county with his parents, Alexander and Isabel Kerr, in 1839. In 1853, he married Miss Ruth, daughter of Thomas and Mary Colwell, who came to Iowa in 1836; they have eight children- Alexander D., William C., Olive, Clara, Robert Colwell, Walter Brown, Isaac Brett, Thomas Edwin, Mary Isabel. Mr. Kerr is a Republican; he has held various offices; is a member of the present Board of Township Trustees, which office he has filled for several terms; himself and family are members of the U.P. Church. Mr. Kerr's farm contains over 196 acres of land, being well-improved.
