Obituary - Ralph W. Bacon
Ralph Waldo Bacon, son of Chas. and Mary Bacon, was born April 23, 1888 on a farm northwest of Cromwell, Iowa, and departed this life August 2, 1963, following a nine weeks illness, at the age of 75 years, four months, and one day.
On February 9, 1910, he was united in marriage with Effie Kilgore and of this union were born two daughters - Mrs. Helen Baker of Kellerton, and Mrs. Mildred Cheek, of Topeka, Kansas.
Mr. Bacon lived on the farm where he was born until 1933 and then removed to a farm near Tingley, where he resided for seven years. For the past 23 years he had made his home in Tingley.
As a child, he united with the Congregational Church in Cromwell.
He was preceded in death by his wife in January 1950.
Those who survive are two daughters, Helen and Mildred; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great - grandchildren; a sister Georgianna Bacon of Peoria, Ill.; a nephew, two nieces; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held August 27, from the Methodist Church in Tingley conducted by the Rev. Richard T. Hohl, of Kellerton. Casketbearers were Dean Breckenridge, Lawrence Johnson, Rolla Ashenhurst, Clarence Weeda, Harry Grimes and Keith Lininger. Interment was in the Cromwell Cemetery.
